Association Membership

The African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association is the pan-African industry body which promotes and enables private investment in Africa. AVCA plays a significant role as a champion and effective change agent for the industry, educating, equipping and connecting members and stakeholders with independent industry research, best practice training programmes, and exceptional networking opportunities. This diverse membership is united by a common purpose: to be part of the Africa growth story.

BACFI was founded in 1965 and merged in 2004 with the Employed and non practising Barristers’ Association (ENPBA). BACFI provides representation, education and support to barristers working in a commercial environment and works to promote “one Bar”, to ensure that the status and interests of our members are fully recognised and taken into account by the Bar Council and the Bar Standards Board (BSB).

The Capital Market Solicitors’ Association is an independent self-regulatory association of solicitors and commercial law firms engaged in capital market practice. The Association was established in 2001, with the aim of addressing the marginalization of Solicitors in capital market operations vis-à-vis other professionals, such as Accountants, Brokers and Stockbrokers. It is set up primarily as a platform to articulate and promote the interest of legal practitioners specializing or dealing in capital market transactions.

CIArb is an international centre of excellence for the practice and profession of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).CIArb provides education and training for arbitrators, mediators and adjudicators.It also acts as a global hub for practitioners, policy makers, academics and those in business, supporting the global promotion, facilitation and development of all ADR methods.

The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria started on February 4, 1982 as Association of Tax Administrators and Practitioners. Thereafter, it transformed into Nigeria Institute of Taxation, which was formally launched on February 21, 1982 and statutorily recognized on May 6, 1987 as company Limited by Guarantee. The Institute was chartered by the Federal Government of Nigeria by the enabling Act No. 76 of 1992 (now CITN Act, CAP C10, Vol. 2, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004) and was charged with the responsibility, among others, of determining what standards of knowledge and skills are to be attained by persons seeking to become a professional Tax Practitioner or Administrator.

The Employment Lawyers Association (ELA) is an apolitical organisation representing the views and interests of just over 6,000 specialist, qualified employment lawyers in the UK. Since its inception in 1992, ELA has become the voice of authority in employment law. ELA’s uniqueness rests in the depth and wealth of knowledge of its diverse membership, and its neutrality on political issues.

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) is a leading recognized professional body in Nigeria dedicated to enhancing the status and practice of Corporate Governance and Public Administration. ICSAN is the only professional body authorized in Nigeria to conduct the examinations leading to the qualification of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

The International Tax Planning Association is a multi-disciplined association of bankers, trust officers, finance directors, accountants, lawyers and others with a practical interest in the tax aspects of cross-frontier transactions. The object of the Association is to disseminate and exchange information about international tax planning. This we do in three ways – through our conferences, through our publications and via the internet.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is the non-profit, umbrella professional association of all lawyers admitted to the Bar in Nigeria and a member of all statutory bodies that regulate the Nigerian Bar and Bench.

In 1996, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) was established and incorporated as a non-profit, non-partisan private sector organisation with a mandate to promote and champion the reform of the Nigerian economy into an open, private sector-led globally competitive economy.
